In July 2019, Duncan was a guest teaching fellow at the Bartlett Architecture School at University College London, teaching design making as a world leading vision impaired/blind practitioner.

Early in his career, Duncan was the recipient of the Designed Objects Tasmania Springboard Scholarship and has since been a finalist in many of the Australian design industry’s top awards.

More recently, his achievements include winning the London-based architectural lighting design Darc Award for Best Floor light of 2018. Voted on by over 6000 of his industry peers (lighting designers, interior designers and architects) Duncan competed against many international design firms to win the accolade.

Duncan was invited in 2017 and 2019 to show his work at Euroluce –  the biennial International Lighting Exhibition at Salone del Mobile in Milan and the world’s largest decorative lighting trade exposition. Duncan’s work was again shown in Italy at Venice Design 2018 as part of the Venice Biennale. He also sits on the Boards of a number of local design organisations. He recently appeared at the Powerhouse Museum as part of Sydney Design Festival providing the Alternative Sensory World Keynote.

In Hobart, Duncan engages local artisans and businesses through materials sourcing and assistance with making of his products – utilising waste wood where possible. His workshop is set behind the main shopping strip in North Hobart and accommodates a range of woodworking machines suitable for developing and making his custom design work. The timber floored shed, is approximately 90 square metres with a high annexed styled ceiling. His work has been commissioned locally by a range of clients including  Hobart College and MACq01 – and he exports to diverse international clients such as Google in Singapore, Clarion Hotel-Stockholm, Oak Restaurant-Bahrain and the Choctaw Native American Cultural Centre-Oklahoma.
