Location: This tour leaves from the National Gallery of Australia
Date: Monday 2 December (Day 2)
Time: 2.30pm – 5pm (Bus will begin boarding at 2.30pm for a 2.45pm departure)
Participants: This tour is limited to 45 participants, including carers/companions/support-workers.
Access: The tour will leave from the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) via a bus tour of artworks, and finishes with a walking tour. There are two spaces available on the bus for passengers using wheelchairs. Wheelchairs or other mobility assistance can be requested for the walking part of the tour. An Auslan interpreter and tour guide to audio describe artworks will be provided as required.
Public Art Tour: Explore the public artwork that Canberra has on offer. The Public Art Tour is specially curated by artsACT, and leaves from National Gallery of Australia via a bus. You can choose from either bus tour or walking tour of some of Canberra’s public artworks.
The ACT is home to a diverse collection of public artwork that has been commissioned by the ACT Government and Australian Governments, as well as the private and community sectors.
artsACT manages a collection of over 100 public artworks. On this tour you will get a chance to explore some of the collection and hear the stories of how they came about and how they have been accepted into the life of Canberrans.
The bus tours through Canberran suburbs on the way to the Arboretum, before stopping for a 20 minute break at the Sprout cafe. The bus then heads down to Canberra Civic for the walking part of the tour. People are welcome to finish the tour here or jump on the bus back to the NGA.
